About Days Of Creation

Days of Creation lives to nurture the artist in everyone, especially the young, and to help sustain and freshen the creative lives of working artists. Days of Creation - Arts for Kids is a Columbus-based traveling program - a multicultural consortium of artists dedicated to young peoples' discovery of the arts and their own skills. "Days" was founded in 1980 by a small group of professional artists to provide creative, challenging, and fun arts experiences for youth during the summer, while extending creative employment opportunities for artists.

Our pilot summer held one weeklong camp with 35 children and 5 artists guiding and developing pioneering methodology. By 1983 Days of Creation was a year-round program, partnering with Recreation & Parks Departments, churches, and neighborhood centers in several communities, and a member of the Greater Columbus Arts Council Artists-In-Schools. In its 20 years, Days of Creation has provided interactive creative arts experiences for more than 325,000 youngsters, 150 artists, and hundreds of educators.

Specific accomplishments include:

140 weeks of arts camps
225 in-school days
64 days of community festivals
More than 20 years of youth activities

Days of Creation has piloted successful programs for special needs kids including:

A multi-arts camp joining gifted and hearing impaired

Since 1989, Days of Creation has been hands-on with more then 10,000 participants at this venue, including the largest crowd - 4,000 people - in the Center's history.
